Smartphones Cause Digital Amnesia, Finds Study on Indians

Smartphones cause digital amnesia, finds study on Indians
by Krishna Bahirwani, dnaindia.com, 31 August 2015

Digital amnesia is a phenomenon in which human knowledge gets lost because of our dependency on technology. And, smartphones are getting us there at a breakneck speed

In today's age, there should be no reason for you not to know about anything under the sun. Google has changed the way we gather information and it has vastly reduced the need for physical books and libraries. The same can be said about physical communication whose face changed dramatically with the advent of Facebook. While everyone thought online shopping would simply be an alternative to physical shopping, it is now on the verge of being deemed the only way to shop.

Owlet, The Smart Baby Bootie

UPDATE 1st September 2016:  ["Testing [this wireless baby monitor] extensively... on live babies since last August [2014]?!"  Is this even ethical, irradiating babies with a class 2B carcinogen?]  Note: If your child has an irregular heart rate or irregular oxygen levels, you should NOT use Owlet as your primary monitoring system.  So, is this device really safe?!

"Being a baby product, safety and dependability have been top priority. We have been testing extensively with our hardware on live babies since last August,” said Monroe. “We just passed the 1 billion heartbeats recorded this month. We are beginning accuracy studies on the product and have units at Seattle Children’s hospital with IRB approval. We are also kicking off studies with many universities and hospitals to understand more about infant health."

From background radiation to chemicals in the food chain, environmental changes are contributing to a rapid global rise in neurological disease

My interest in neurological disease was triggered by a second friend dying of motor neurone disease (MND), which in purely statistical terms was exceptional. It is suggested there is an incidence of about one in 50,000 who are affected by MND and most die. No one knows 50,000 people, so was it a statistical fluke?

This raised the question of whether there were increases not only in MND, but in neurological disorders as a whole, including the dementias. Using World Health Organisation mortality data, which – while not perfect – is the best information available as it is collated in a standard and uniform way, myself and colleagues at the faculty of health and social sciences at Bournemouth University set out to investigate this.

Our first study, focusing on the changing pattern of neurological deaths from 1979 up to 1997, found that dementias were starting 10 years earlier – affecting more people in their 40s and 50s – and that there was a noticeable increase in neurological deaths in people up to the age of 74. In a follow-up study, taking us to 2010 and across 21 western countries, these increases were confirmed.

Comments on BMJ Article: "Should All NHS Premises Provide Free Access to Wi-Fi?"

Re: Should all NHS premises provide free access to wi-fi?
Comment on BMJ article by Andrew PT Tresidder, GP, Somerset sessional GP, Ilminster, Somerset

Just a jobbing GP, I have seen a number of people over the years with headaches and poor sleep - which have got better by minimising unnecessary exposure to cordless phones, wifi and other RF (radiofrequency or microwave) devices, and returned when re-exposed. It is always good to remove an avoidable cause (like a stone in your shoe causing pain in the foot) rather than just treating the symptoms.

This interest has led me to become a trustee of the charity ES-UK, (Electro-sensitivity UK www.es-uk.info), and meet a number of people severely affected by transmitting technology, to the point where some of them have to give up their jobs, and a few even avoid contact with much of life as we all take for granted. To me, the technology of wifi and the like is wonderful - but, it has been rolled out on the flawed presumption that it is harm-free.

Affected people experience symptoms from exposure to RF transmissions, which include headaches, brain fog, inability to think clearly, speech disturbance, palpitations, sleep disturbance, epistaxis, fatigue, dizziness, vertigo, odd pains and tinglings in limbs - and interestingly ants exposed to wifi lose their ability to forage and die, amongst other creatures affected by non-thermal effects. Prevalence in the population is estimated at 3-5%, mainly undiagnosed.

"Should ALL NHS premises provide..." I capitalize "ALL" for the specific reason that this question assumes that 100% microwave radiation exposure 24/7 in a hospital setting is the choice at hand. Certainly there are other options that could address the different needs of many more people.

Given the independent scientific research that has come out the past decade exposing the harm to human biology caused by pulsed microwave radiation, it is amazing that a "health oriented" agency can continue to ignore the independent scientific data.

We have become dependent on the internet, both professionally and personally, and there are much healthier solutions than blanketing entire hospitals with wifi. What is most important is that the medical conglomerate recognize the health issues from 24/7 exposure and begin to take steps towards healthier solutions eg ethernet connections in patients' rooms, and a special area where wifi is available to those that want it, etc.

Court awards French woman disability allowance of €29,000 for 'sensitivity to gadgets'
rt.com, 27 August 2015

A French court has awarded a monthly disability grant of some €800 to a woman claiming to have an allergy to electromagnetic radiation from gadgets such as cellphones. Most countries, including France, do not recognize the condition as a medical disorder.

Marine Richard, a 39-year-old former radio documentary producer, hailed the unprecedented ruling as a "breakthrough" for people affected by Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS), AFP reported.

WORCESTER – The family of a student at the Fay School in Southboro has filed a lawsuit claiming the school’s strong Wi-Fi signal caused the boy to become ill.

The unidentified plaintiffs, referred to as “Mother” and “Father” in the complaint, said their 12-year-old son, “G,” suffers from Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome, a condition that is aggravated by electromagnetic radiation. The boy was diagnosed after he frequently experienced headaches, nosebleeds, nausea, and other symptoms while sitting in class after the school installed a new, more powerful wireless Internet system in 2013, the suit says.

Experts Warn Pregnant Mothers to Keep Cell Phones and Other Wireless Devices Away from Their Wombs

Experts warn pregnant mothers to keep cell phones and other wireless devices away from their wombs
by Lloyd Burrell, blogs.naturalnews.com,

A new public awareness initiative has brought together more than one hundred doctors, scientific experts and non-profit organizations from around the world to collectively express their grave concern about the risks that wireless radiation exposures pose to pregnancy. The Baby Safe Project, the brainchild of two non-profit organizations, is essentially an awareness movement for pregnant mothers to keep cell phones away from their wombs.

Patricia Wood, Executive Director of Grassroots Environmental Education and co-creator of the BabySafe Project says, “The wireless world may be convenient, but it’s not without risks.” She goes on to explain that “when more than one hundred of the world’s leading medical doctors and researchers on wireless radiation say we have enough evidence for women to take protective action, we think women should know about it.”

Hacker Can Send Fatal Dose to Hospital Drug Pumps
by Kim Zetter Securit, wired.com,

Hospira's drug infusion pumps include a serial cable (the wide grayish-white cable with the single red stripe on one edge) that connects the communications module to the main pump board. Billy Rios

When security researcher Billy Rios reported earlier this year that he’d found vulnerabilities in a popular drug infusion pump that would allow a hacker to raise the dosage limit on medication delivered to patients, there was little cause for concern.

Altering the allowable limits of a particular drug simply meant that if a caregiver accidentally instructed the pump to give too high or too low a dosage, the pump wouldn’t issue an alert. This seemed much less alarming than if the pumps had vulnerabilities that would allow a hacker to actually alter the dosage itself.

World-First Study Investigates Mobile Phones and Kids' Sleep

Comments on this study by Professor Trevor Marshall:

"These experiments always fail to produce useful results as they treat the effects of exposure as occurring in minutes or hours, when the effects on the immune system persist for days and weeks. At the very least, the kids in this study need to be isolated in close to a Faraday-Cage environment for a minimum of two days before commencing study. Then the electrosmog-simulating exposure must be made for the whole duration of the sleep, and the effects monitored over the following week. This is not what the researchers are doing, because they have the arrogance to presume that they know what the effects will be, how long they will last for, and how to best simulate an electrosmog environment. They will fail, or measure a much smaller effect than is experienced in an actual living environment.

"In 1978, Bise's group found that the EEG is affected by very, very small signal levels. This experiment is almost certainly going to be conducted in an electrosmog environment way above the levels at which the effects are most marked."

Re: Should all NHS premises provide free access to wi-fi?
Comment on BMJ article by Priyanka D. Bandara, Environmental Health Researcher/educator, Castle Hill, NSW, Australia, 15 August 2015

This article and most of the responses represent further evidence to the urgent need to inform the medical community (and the general public ) about the wide range of biological effects and adverse health effects that have been scientifically demonstrated to be associated with exposure to chronic “low level” exposure of microwaves (high power radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation or RF-EMR). The current knowledge on the RF-EMR is akin to the widespread ignorance that prevailed in the medical community about X-ray for decades (i.e. a “low dose” can’t do harm) after initial evidence of childhood cancer associated with X-ray during pregnancy was presented by Dr. Alice Stewart in the 1950s.

I'm afraid I find it depressing that a medical journal should even have to ask this question - regardless of whether or not the wi-fi is free.

Here are some facts which I believe show that the very last thing that NHS medical staff, patients and visitors should be exposed to is the pulsed, microwave frequency radiation (at either 2.4GHz or 5GHz) that is emitted from Wi-Fi routers.

I have included references at the end.

1) The whole of the radiofrequency part of the electromagnetic spectrum (which includes the microwave portion used by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other wireless technologies) was classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, part of the World Health Organisation, as a Group 2B Possible Carcinogen in 2011. A number of the scientists involved in this classification have since called for it to be tightened still further - to Group 2A Probable Carcinogen, or even Group 1 Carcinogen.

Switzerland: Cell Phone Radiation - How Big is the Risk?

[Note from the Editor of this blog:  Following is a near-verbatim summary of the article.  This does not represent the full text.  We wanted readers to have an idea of the current thinking in Switzerland regarding the risks of cell phone radiation from the point of view of the authorities, scientists, and one "mobile-critical" association, Gigaherz.ch .  As far as we know, the magazine "Beobachter" is the only mainstream Swiss media that has mentioned the International EMF Scientist Appeal, which was signed by one Swiss, for his studies on the effect of cell phone radiation on bees.]

Cell Phone Radiation - How Big is the Risk?
Beobachter, Issue no. 15/2015, 24 July 2015

Many think cell phone radiation is harmful to health. But recent research results suggest caution

Veterinarian Michael Hässig presented an experiment at the University of Zurich as a situation that we find every day. He exposed ten cows to radiation of the type emitted by mobile antennas.  He then examined three enzymes in the blood of animals and noted that the behavior of the enzymes had changed. In some cows, the activity had increased, in others, it lessened. A third group showed no reaction. The experiment brought two important insights: cell phone radiation can alter the activity of proteins. And each organism reacts individually in spite of identical experimental conditions.  It is still too early for definitive statements. "We need more research. In principle, however, the results could be applied to humans"...

7 Points That Prove How Dangerous Cell Phones Are To Humankind

"Numerous studies now show that cell phones emit dangerous electromagnetic waves (EMF) that are associated with the development of cancer – specifically brain cancer. Despite this knowledge, cell phone companies keep rolling right along with the help of government as they keep building more and more cell phone towers all over the United States. And why would we expect them to stop given that the cancer industry is a multi-trillion dollar industry?"

7 Points That Prove How Dangerous Cell Phones Are To Humankind
by Bernie Suarez, activistpost.com,
6 August 2015

Is the cell phone or more specifically the modern day “smart phone” the most destructive invention in the history of humankind? I believe it may very well be and here is my argument.

No other invention has permeated human activity like the modern day cell phone. Here is a list of things that you may not have thought of that cell phones are responsible for. When you get to the bottom of this list you may just realize that the cell phone is the electronics invention ”ace-in-the-hole” for the globalists and their new world order plans.

1 – Cell phones have become the number one distraction to humans in all segments of society

Rise of Patients in 40s Suffering from Dementia

Research has revealed that people are getting dementia even
earlier, with some in their late 40s now being diagnosed.
Colin Pritchard, a researcher from Bournemouth University, told The Times: ‘The rate of increase [in dementia] in such a short time suggests a silent or even a “hidden” epidemic, in which environmental factors must play a major part, not just ageing.  The environmental changes in the last 20 years have seen increases in the human environment of petro-chemicals – air transport, quadrupling of motorvehicles, insecticides and rises in background electro-magnetic field, and so on … it is not that we want to stop the modern world, but rather make it safer.’

People are getting dementia earlier, with those in their late 40s now regularly diagnosed with the disease.

Two decades ago, early-onset dementia was usually diagnosed in patients in their late 60s – but it is now often striking those who are even younger, a study found.

More and more children are using mobile media. Doctors see this as critical and warn of health hazards. They also do not believe that the early use of technology will help later in a digitized world of work.

Berlin :  Smartphones, tablets and computers are, in the opinion of pediatricians, detrimental to the spiritual development of children in spite of the latest developments. "We pediatricians are convinced of significant health and psychological impairments and see this daily in our practices," said Till Reckert of the Professional Association of Child and Adolescent Physicians (BVKJ) Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

One danger is the fact that parents neglect their children, because their smartphones are more important, said the pediatrician, Vice-Chairman of the BVKJ in Baden-Württemberg. "There are great challenges ahead of us."
