Support Individuals with Electrosensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity: Petition to the Government of the United Kingdom

Petition to the UK Government:  Support Individuals with Electrosensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

Message from Dave Ashton, creator of the petition:

A fairly long comment was prepared for this petition, but it turned out that there was a space restriction, and so I had to lose most of what we'd written. A link to the actual petition is given below, along with a copy of the longer original version that we couldn't use.

The petition includes links to documents recommending steps to be taken to deal with the urgent situation represented by EHS and MCS, as well as dealing with the wider health issues posed by wireless technologies.

There are a couple of extra links below, which tell the human side of the story for EHS and MCS sufferers.

Thank you for reading this, and for signing the petition (if you are a UK resident!)

Dave Ashton

Text of Petition

Support Individuals with Electrosensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

We call on the UK Government, the NHS, and other official organisations/agencies, to recognise and support individuals with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), and to implement the recommendations outlined in the following documents as quickly as possible:

Original wording of the petition (couldn't be used due to space constraints):

Support individuals with Electrosensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

We, the undersigned, call on the UK Government to recognise and support individuals with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS).

Growing numbers of people in the UK suffer from extreme sensitivity to chemicals and ubiquitous man-made electromagnetic radiation in our environment, and are forced to take extraordinary measures to protect ourselves.

We may become so incapacitated that we are forced to leave our jobs, and many of us are also left with no choice but to abandon our homes and relocate - sometimes far away from our families, relationships and support networks.

Our quality of life is seriously compromised by these conditions, which - whilst receiving much international scientific attention - are relatively unknown by the public at large.

Our circumstances and needs are little understood. We endure a lack of respect for our most fundamental human rights, and suffer hardship, isolation and social exclusion, through no fault of our own.

The NHS, and other agencies and organisations, are usually unaware of EHS and MCS. In the vast majority of cases, we are neither being diagnosed, nor directed to appropriate and effective help and treatment.

It is now critical that our predicament is addressed.

Both MCS and EHS sufferers are impacted by microwave radiation, and most of the the UK is now saturated with wireless radiation from an ever-increasing array of wireless devices and infrastructure.

The Government seems intent on removing any remaining mobile 'not spots,' and ensuring that all public spaces - hospitals, libraries, schools, public transport, and even whole towns and cities, are immersed in WIFI - a Group 2B carcinogen.

Of extreme concern is the fact that increasing numbers of children are becoming electrosensitive. The tragic suicide of 15 year old Jenny Fry last year, due to the wifi at her school, brought this issue to public attention.

Also of concern is that absolutely anyone can become electrically or chemically sensitive, and that the number of sufferers is on the rise.

The Government's primary responsibility is to protect its citizens.

We therefore urgently call on it to implement the precautionary recommendations outlined in the following documents, in order to support, protect, and respect the basic human and disability rights of EHS and MCS sufferers. A link to Professor Dominique Belpomme's recent scientific paper on EHS and MCS has been added, for additional information.

Thank you.
